Hoisting signs reading, “We are people too” and “We need homes, not nursing homes,” dozens of local residents with disabilities joined advocates to spread their message of opposition to state healthcare budget cuts with a visual and vocal march down State Street yesterday.
Organizers said state officials need to find another way to balance the budget without carving into funding for healthcare services, particularly those devoted to citizens with disabilities.
